BEHIND THE PANE
August 2020

My relationship with windows started when I moved to Bahrain.

Being in a completely new environment, stripped of all comforts, and coming off a traumatic event – I sequestered myself behind glass.

I barely left the house except to go grocery shopping.

Living in a city with very tall buildings was my only concept of the Middle East.

I would bring along whatever camera I had (usually just my cell phone) and take photos from the cab.

There, I would study all the sand particles that dirtied each windowpane, and gaze through their reflections at a vast scenery I was not yet able to experience for myself.
